Lads weekend away

A “two stop” trip to Holland and Prague.

Have to say overall a great weekend only let down by who never turned up to take us shooting, despite pre booking and trying to phone them on the day… avoid at all costs (at least we did not pay up front !).

The weekend started on Thursday morning, with a lazy start to the day …catching the 9.25am from Luton to Schiphol Airport Holland (and no huge queues to clear security !) …. we should have been flying to Prague Thursday but Wizzair cancelled the flight !.

Our plan was simple, land at Schiphol, grab a train to Utrecht and relax for the day before getting an evening flight to Prague.

We made the most of the beer and a visit to a wonderful coffee shop we found by the canal on our last trip before it becomes out of bounds to tourists, which is shame because it is not a seedy grotty place like you find in Amsterdam, and everyone is really friendly.

We then stopped off at a very strange Steakhouse for a late lunch before heading back to Schiphol.

Stopping for a few hours may sound like a waste of a day… but it is the future !, we have seen the light and will be doing it again next year !… the flights are short and makes a real change from the norm.

We polished off 4 bottles of wine in Schiphol airport  Smile

I managed to loose my coat in Prague Airport (to much wine !).

Driver waiting for us at the airport !

We were staying close to town in a place called Residence 3Domy, I really cannot describe what a gem of a find this was and the local area was fantastic… if you are ever going to Prague stay here !…

Drink here …

Eat here …

We hit town and followed the crowds to the old square to drink beer, eat pork sausage and watch the Czech Republic play in the Ice Hockey world cup semi finals on the large outdoor screen… the place went mad when they won !

Ice Hockey on the big screen

The weather was hot and sunny, which made a change to the rubbish cold wet weather in the UK !.

Next day we hit the Prague Beer Festival… not as big as I thought it would be, not a patch on the Munich Beer Festival… or even the Reading Beer Festival !

With the shooting called off we spent much time drinking, watching Ice Hockey and just making the most of the Sun before flying home on Sunday.

Berlin next year !
